Day 8 - A photo that makes you sad

I love Calvin and Hobbes, and this photo makes me sad because of Hobbes' face. He looks confused, and I just don't like to think of Calvin ever growing up !

Song of the day

"People you've been before,
that you don't want around anymore.
That push, and shove and won't bend to your will.
I'll keep them still."

I love visits !

I recently moved for the first time, and since I had just finished high school and have no job, meeting people has proved to be a huge challenge ! This is why I love when my friends come visit me ! My best friend, Lauren, arrived yesterday around lunch time, and we went to Niagara Falls (which is where I moved to) and a small town called Port Dalhousie. We took a lot of photos in Port Dalhousie, and I love how they turned out ! I hope that everyone is having a great week, and I can't wait for the warm weather this weekend !

Day 7 - A photo that makes you happy

I love this photo, because in this copy of Alice in Wonderland, Alice has red hair ! The Mad Hatter still terrifies me, as usual, but its nice to see Alice without the long, blonde hair. Especially since she was originally meant to have shoulder length brown hair.

My Brother

This is my brother, Ben. He is two years older than me, and is off at school, not too far from where me and my parents live. He is a funny guy, I highly suggest checking out his twitter. Our favourite past-times are teasing our mom, and laughing at (and occasionally with) our dad.

Fun Fact

Ray Ban Wayfarers tattooed on man's face

An unusual fact about me (interesting, or not) is that most tattoos make my stomach turn in knots. It could be a beautiful and inspired piece, but odds are, if you show me a tattoo I will be trying my hardest not to cringe. It is not that I find them ugly, or distasteful (most of the time), I just feel sad, when I wonder if the person will regret it in the future (near or distant). That being said, I have nothing against people who have tattoos. In fact, I know a lot of people who do. I just can't relate to the thought of wanting to draw on my body, and it being there forever. One of my worst recurring nightmares is the one where I wake up (from my dream within a dream) and discover a full chest/back/or arm tattoo. Its never even anything interesting, usually just squares tattooed all over me. I think my irrational fear of tattoos has a lot to do with my indecisiveness. Since I am so bad at sticking with decisions, I just assume everyone else is as well, and will regret them in the future, like I know I would. Anyways, that is that !
I hope you all had a lovely Monday !

Day 6 - Whatever Tickles Your Fancy

this tickles my fancy

Paper art

Incredible paper art, created by Peter Callesen. I wish that I was co-ordinated and patient enough to dissect paper in such a beautiful way !

Song of the day

one of my favourite compositions.

Song of the day

"hide it in a hiding place, where no one ever goes.
Put it in the pantry with your cupcakes."

Day 5 - Favourite Quote

"Fantasy love is much better than reality love. The most exciting attractions are between two opposites that never meet." - Andy Warhol

How sweet !

This made my day :) Thanks so much Siân !

Day 4 - Favourite Book

My favourite book is definitely "The Perks of Being a Wallflower". It is a great coming-of-age tale, and a perfect book for when you are sitting around, and want something light to read.

Song of the day

"And I still don't understand,
what this whole things about.
And all the words that you said,
are somehow stuck in my mouth"

Song of the day

"But i'm still happy
when I get to hold his hand.
He says I can hold it, but remember we're just friends."

Day 3 - Favourite Television Show

It was hard, at first, to think of my favourite television show..mainly because I watch a lot of TV ! However, the one show that I have seen every episode of, repeatedly, and still enjoy is the original Twilight Zone series. Something about Rod Serling's voice just makes me happy, haha ! The show has a lot of really great messages, too, about today's society and how we all treat each other. My favourite episodes are the ones that take place in the future, or in outer space, because it's always so funny to see how they assume it would be shiny and we'd have floating cars.

My love, in cereal form

Dorset Cereal is quite possibly my favourite snack food. Aside from having completely adorable packaging, it is also very good for you: No added sugars or salts, a source of fibre, has lots of whole-grains, and its low in sodium ! I got to the point where I was eating way too much junk food, and sleeping too much, so I tried to cut back on the McDonalds, and get more exercise ! I have been eating better for a few months now, and recently started biking daily, and doing pilates(ugh.) once a week, and I already feel a million times better ! My sleep pattern is almost beyond repair, but I'm slowly getting it back to normal..no more 4 a.m. bedtimes for me !

Day 2 - Favourite Movie

My favourite movie would have to be "Good Bye Lenin!". It is a German movie, starring Daniel Brühl, who happens to be one of my biggest celebrity crushes ! It takes place in East Germany, in 1989, Alex's mother watches the police arresting him, during a protest, and suffers a heart attack and falls into a coma. Several months later, after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the German Democratic Republic does not exist anymore. When his mother wakes up, the doctor explains that to prevent another heart attack and death, she would have to avoid any excitement. To help his mother avoid a heart attack, Alex pretends that nothing has changed since she went into the coma, by staging news shows, and doing other insane things. Its a really great movie for a rainy day, to snuggle up with a blanket and some tea !

Song of the day

"oh baby, baby its a wild world
it's hard to get by just upon a smile."

Lissy Elle

I was browsing some other blogs, and saw a link to a flickr account, so I started looking through all of the photos. The photos, by Lissy Elle, were absolutely breathtaking, and interesting. The above photos are from two of her different albums, and show how varied her work can be.

Day 1 - Your favourite song

My favourite song is a tie between 1979 by the Smashing Pumpkins, and Blackbird by The Beatles. They are both so amazing in different ways, that I can't pick between them ! They're both beautiful songs, though. Mmmm, Billy Corgan is such a looker when he has hair. (he's the one with the long curly hair in the bottom photo)

Updates

one: Never do pilates..they will kill you ! Well, not actually. However, I just returned home from my first class with my mom and her friend, Kate, and we are all feeling the burn, so to speak ! Its like paying money to go take gym class !! But, I know that the end result will be worth all the pain and sore muscles !

two: Welcome, new followers :) and thank you for showing an interest in my blog ! Please, comment often ! I love hearing from people !

three: That being sad, if I can get up to 35 followers, I will do a give-away. Not sure what it will be yet, but rest assured, it will be awesome ! So if you want a chance to win free stuff, invite your friends !

four: This one is quite possibly the coolest.. Gabby got 2 tickets to see one of my ALL TIME favourite bands, She & Him !!!!!!!!!! and, one of those tickets has got my name on it, if I can find a better fake ID than the one I already have, since the event is 19+ ! So wish me luck on finding a look-alike before June !

I hope that you are all having a great week, and that the weather is as nice, where ever you are, as it here, right now !

Song of the day

"count on us all falling
on our own swords, tonight."

New Bicycle

This weekend, I went with my mom to Scarborough to buy a bike that I found on Craigslist. It was a good deal, considering the good condition (other than a few rust patches). Unfortunately, I bought it just before we had 4 four days of rain..so I couldn't ride it until today ! But, today was so beautiful that it was worth the few days of rain leading up to it !

Skiing the Domestic Alps

My friend, Gabby, posted this on her blog today..it made me laugh harder than I've laughed all day, so I felt the need to share it ! The girl's stance just kills me, and the whole photo is so perfect. If only snow could actually be like a blanket, as opposed to wet and cold... Anyways, Gabby's blog is (to infinity and..) beyond entertaining to look through, I suggest checking it out !

Crying Girl

A photo shoot to recreate Roy Lichtenstein's iconic painting "Crying Girl". The ingenious makeup was done by M.A.C. makeup artists. This is eery, yet so awesome at the same time !

Song of the day

"flow sweetly, hang heavy.
You suddenly complete me,
you suddenly complete me."

(I think this is my favourite "song of the day" photo I've made, so far)

Vintage Swimsuits

I decided that, this year, I need to find the perfect one piece swimsuit ! While I still love bikinis, I think that retro one pieces are so flattering, and interesting. Unfortunately, all of the ones that I found so far that I loved were $150 or more ! And as you know, I am unemployed, so that is a bit out of my price range..

Song of the day

"and in this world of reckless happenstance,
why do good things have to go away
and leave you with nothing ?"

We Live Young

both photos belong to weliveyoung.blogspot.com

We Live Young is one of my favourite blogs to browse through. The blog belongs to a teenage girl, Nirrimi. She is a young, yet powerfully creative, photographer and uses her blog to showcase her latest photos, opinions, etc. I really recommend checking it out. Her photos make me suffer with longing for summer..but lately, everything has.
